Homemade Burgers

Burgers aren’t just something to be enjoyed at the pub — they make an easy, fast, and delicious weeknight dinner that both kids and adults love!

For the patties:

🔸  1 lb. lean ground beef

🔸  1 package of Burger Seasoning from Gourmet Village

🔸  1 egg

🔸  A few splashes of Worcestershire sauce

🔸  A small handful of breadcrumbs or rolled oats

🔸  Thick slices of sharp cheddar cheese

Put all the ingredients, except the cheese, into a large bowl, and mix with clean hands. Form into thick patty shapes — being sure that you don’t over-handle the meat, which can turn it tough.

Grill on the barbeque at medium-high heat, flipping once. After flipping, wait a couple minutes, then place the the slices of cheese on the patties.

Serve with:

🔸  Hamburger buns — charred a bit on the grill if you wish

🔸  Sliced tomato

🔸  Butter lettuce

🔸  Sliced red onions

🔸  Your condiments of choice — we truly recommend the Spicy Tomato Spread from Salt Spring Kitchen Co: it is mouthwatering on burgers!

🔸  Feel free to get creative with your toppings, too: caramelized onions, crispy bacon, and pickles are all great additions.

You can also whip up some easy, crispy oven fries:

🔸  Two large russet potatoes or sweet potatoes

🔸  Olive oil

🔸  Salt & pepper

Preheat the oven to 425.  Cut the potatoes into slices or wedges, about 1” thick.

Toss the potatoes in olive oil, salt, and peppers. Spread them on a parchment-lined baking sheet, with at least an inch of space between each.

Roast until crispy, about 20 minutes.

Are you going to try this delicious, easy, crowd-pleasing meal this week? It’s perfect enjoyed on your sunny patio with your favourite cold beverage. Cheers!
